Chicago, 2003. I had just graduated college and moved back in with my parents. Things weren’t looking very good.
Moving straight to New York with a liberal arts degree and 10 years experience in community theatre was a bad idea. I knew the first thing I needed to do was gain more experience.
Ok, so I had this one really glaring problem: I had no connections. I either needed to find a community – or build my own from the ground up.
To work on Broadway you not only have to surround yourself with a vibrant community of genuine relationships – you also have to be very, very, very good at what you do.
I played my first night on Broadway in April, 2011 – 8 years after the beginning of this story.
