Do I have to be 18 to get a on a ship through an agency?
I got a job offer on a ship last summer when I worked as a musician in a port, but my mom wouldn’t allow me. Maybe if it’s through an agency she will let me :)

I guess any time would be better than another. It’s pretty hard to get a short term gig that’ll fit with a summer schedule.

Last week the CEO of Proship, the largest agency for cruise musicians, wrote an article for us. I thought this quote was particularly telling:

“If you are only available for a couple of weeks, take a cruise vacation as a passenger.”

Hi, I was wondering if i wanted to get a cruise ship summer job, what would be the best time to apply? Would it be as early as possible, to allow time for more opportunities to come up, or would it be right before summer begins, when cruise lines would be “desperate for one musician”?

My instrument is saxophone.

Sure Jan, that seems possible to me. I would bet that the harder part would be coordinating your dates to coincide with your summer break.

Hello!

I have a question, I am a jazz piano player trained at a conservatory and me and my band would like to play at a cruise ship during the summer. Is is possible to apply with a whole band (trio/quartet) and play only jazz at a lounge for example?
