Hello all -

I’ll be leaving Thursday, July 1st on a Lufthansa plane to Germany, where I’ll be meeting up with the ms ********* of the ******* ******* fleet. I’ll be working for six months as the showband keyboard player and traveling all around Scandinavia, Denmark, England and even Russia before heading down to Greece for the summer games and then all around the Mediterranean. I’ll even see Africa and travel across the Atlantic to Fort Lauderdale, FL by the end of my contract.

I’m starting this forum – Chronicles of a Cruise Ship Musician – which is really more of a blog – for a couple reasons. First, because this whole thing is such a mystery. It’s just hard to find solid information and opinions about working as a musician on a cruise ship. Really, I only have a vague idea of how things will be. I’m sure that there are other musicians out there wondering what it’s like on these ships, and here is a place where you can find those answers. Mind you, I won’t give any specific legal sort of information in this forum.

Second, I’d like to keep family and friends up-to-date with how the trip goes.

My ports of call include Copenhagen, London, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Stockholm, Warnemunde, Athens, Rome, Venice, Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Tunisia, Croatia, Lisbon…(and more – and not in that order). Check back now and then to see where I am.
