Non-Music Destination Jobs

By David J. Hahn

I once landed a job working at the north rim of the Grand Canyon.  It was right after college, before I’d become a full-time musician, and I was looking for a destination job with some adventure.  I got the position through this website, which is a really great resource for interesting jobs:

CoolWorks.com

In the end, I gave up the job before I even got out there for a variety of reasons.  A year later I ended up on a cruise ship instead.  But I always thought that if gigs stopped coming or music didn’t work out for some other reason, I’d go back to CoolWorks and apply for another job listed there.  Maybe someday when I’m old and grey I’ll sell t-shirts at a Yellowstone’s gift shop or something like that.  Its a great site for day-dreaming.
