Sweet Gig, But Darkness Prevails
Oh man, this is a sweet gig.
So I got up around noon today and went down to the tailors. They fitted me with a stylish suit and muscle shirt (that I don’t fill in in the right places…) and tailored my pants for me right there on the spot. I don’t believe this nonsense on land about it taking 4 days to get your pants tailored. They did it for me in 30 seconds.
After that I went back to the room, unpacked a bit more and took a nap.
I played a 15 minute set at 5 tonight, and I’ll do it again at 7. Just 15 minutes. That’s not even enough time to get comfortable. Then I ate dinner – good, healthy good, fish and fruit – and here I am on the computer. We’ve got two shows tonight, the songs are a little difficult, but my parts are easy.
We’re moving now from Denmark to Oslo. It shouldn’t take long to get there, and I’m hoping that I can get my ID card tonight so that I can go out to port tomorrow.
But here’s the thing – this gig seems SO sweet, yet everybody is so dark around here. The musicians aren’t that bad about, but the dancers and performers and others do nothing but groan. What gives? Where’s the catch? Have you guys ever worked in a factory or sat at a desk for 8 hours everyday? At those gigs I could understand some groaning.
I asked the guys in the band and they say that crew that aren’t musicians work a whole lot and that can make them dark. Another told me that some people are just dark and that’s the reason. Whatever the reason, I’ll do my best to stay away from the groaners so as not to catch the bug they seem to be carrying. Maybe they should just learn to play piano.
And Shawn – the talent around here is primo baby. Primo. Price check on every isle. Sorry, make that a clean-up…
