I've played piano for 17+ years now, but unfortunately my ear is extremely weak (I know weird for a pianist eh!) anyways I am picking up the guitar in order to strengthen my ear and because I have always wanted to play. Right now I am mainly using youtube videos to learn chords/scales/riffs etc... I do have a couple of friends who are amazing guitarists that I hit up for help (unfortunately one has no musical theory background and plays 100% by ear). I am just looking for some suggestions for what to learn, I am interested in playing pop, punk, rock so I was wondering if you could help me by suggesting scales/chords/finger exercises I could learn in order to smooth out the learning process (for example I learned the Major scale since that is one of the first things you learn in piano, unfortunately that is not widely used in the genre I am looking at playing in)
