I will probably be doing a cruise in Nov. I’m a guitar player and wondering what the hassle factor is to bring my own amp? I know the ship provides amps, but I have all of the effects I would use in my amp. How much does it cost to fly it out also? With the case it weighs about 75lbs.

Thanks

Sounds like a hassle, but I can understand why you’d want to. It’s part of your instrument, afterall.

You might want to consider, though, that you probably won’t be playing in one place (unless you are in a lounge band?). So your amp is going to get schlepped back and forth all over the ship by the tech crew. Tech crews are usually great, but you get the picture. They won’t cover any damages to your amp for that kind of stuff. If I were you I’d keep it safe and keep it at home.

If you really want to bring it though, I don’t think they could stop you.

Hi again Bob –

I actually found a post that Ghostwriter wrote awhile back about this topic. I forgot about it!

Should I Bring a Bass Amp On My Cruise Gig?
