cd duplication experiences

(7 posts)
  1. I'm preparing to release my first album and was hoping to get some insight from those who have been through this on dealing with CD duplication companies. What have your experiences with different places (discmakers, oasis, etc) been?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. I had CDs made once by Bellwether Manufacturing, and they were great. They really took care with the project - they helped me with the graphic design as well.

I don't know discmakers personally, but I get the feeling they are a very big company and your project becomes "a number", lost in the pile. But there is the advantage of the best gear and a lot of experience and knowledge. They seem to do very good, impersonal work.

  3. Thanks David! They seem like a cool smaller company like you suggested. It did seem like it could end up being quite a bit more than some other places if I ended up going the digipack route. Did they charge you for CD artwork help?

I also heard from Cameron on this topic and on discmakers. I'm guessing at least in part it depends on each personal experience. And I think your right that there probably is something to be said for the gear/knowledge/experience for this thing. Anyone else with good (or bad) stories from the duplication world?

Thanks again David for your insights here and throughout this site!

I'm working on a project with a friend and an doing the design work with him. He's chosen Disc Makers for the duplication and printing.

I'll post about the experience when it's done. So far so good though. I got the templates I need in formats that I can use.

I will say that i think are print is really high end, and that are customer service is very personal. 6. Just wanted to update now that I've gone ahead and now released the album. In case anyone is interested I went with CopyCats Media for the project (which I found through this site!). They were great - easy to work with, had good pricing and turnaround time.

And if you're interested in checking out their work, and mine ;), the album is now available on my website and CD Baby (www.cdbaby.com/ahartmansm).

Thanks to all for your input!
