Sometimes it’s more about what you don’t include than what you do include. My general rule for bios is that you should write about what you want to do, not what you’ve done. For instance, if you want to become a full-time composer of shows are regional theaters – spin your past experience into a bio that sounds like that’s what you already do. That’s the truth, actually. That IS what you do. So just make it sound like that. So instead of saying something like: “Adam wrote musicals for the Children’s Theatre of Boston” – instead, say: “Adam has developed musicals that have been performed throughout the Boston area.” Both are true, right? |
