<p>I have been all over the internet and also asking former cruise ships musicians if DCL hires individual musicians for their show bands, and I get yes's and no's – what gives? I emailed my resume to the disneyauditions address, and received a standard stock reply email saying to snail mail my stuff to Boca Raton. Why would I snail mail the exact same resume to a P.O. Box when they can read it just as well as an email? OK, I went off on a tangent; my question still stands: does DCL hire independent contractors for their show bands? |

I’ll go out on a limb here, and tell you flatly that most Disney entities prefer to hire musicians from in-house, like Opryland used to do. I think cruise lines are a bit of a special case, though, and are maybe less unionized, so your mileage may vary.I can’t speak from personal experience. Disney does hire marquee acts at premium wages, but they also hire commodity musicians at prevailing rates, so maybe try to make sure you’re a marketable act? |

I don’t know about musicians, but I’ve heard about singers getting hired. I don’t believe they only hire in-house at all – there is probably an audition process like any other cruise lines. I’d say send your stuff to the PO…its a bit annoying I’ll admit, but hey, you never know what might happen. You’ve heard that some people said yes they hire for their showbands, so I’d go with the 50% possibility that they might be hiring individual musicians and try it out anyways. What’s the worst that can happen? |

Disney do not hire showband. With the resources of the Disney empire at their disposal, they’ve been able to go sans showband so to speak. All their shows have backing tracks done in one of the studios. I believe they do hire ensemble musicians though if that’s any good? |
