Hey guys,

I have just started a new Facebook Page to promote my piano lessons, and I’m just wondering if anybody else has used Facebook as a promotion and marketing strategy?
I’m sure most of you are – heck even MW is promoting itself on Facebook!
I’m new at this and just wondering what you guys did to get more fans and stuff – how are you using Facebook in general?

I started putting ads – but I’d like to keep the budget for these rather low. So far, I gained one fan through my ads though.

I’m also sure I’m not the only one trying my hands at social media for promotion and I’m hoping to get a good discussion starting on this!

I’d be interested to hear if you have any luck with Facebook ads. We’ve never used them for MW. We don’t sell anything here, so it’d be next to impossible to make the investment back. But it’s different for you, since you are selling your services.

I kind of think about FB as an enhanced mailing list. If people dig MW, they like our page, then we can keep in touch with them – send them a message now and then, etc.

But it’s really passive for us – we haven’t spent much time trying to get more people to like us.

The ads are actually pretty cheap – you can set your daily budget – which I set at $2 a day and have yet to pay anything. You only pay when people click on your ad. I know that personally I never click on those. If I see an ad about something I like, I tend to just google it after seeing it on FB or somewhere else – I’m sort of hoping that other people do that too so that I won’t have to pay haha.

So far, a good chunk of people saw my ads and I even gained a new fan after he saw the ad.

It hasn’t be very successful but hey, I have not paid anything yet, so we’ll see what happens with that.
