Hey, just wondering if anyone has any advice on websites that act as booking agencies or the like. I've been looking at http://www.gigmasters.com. Does anyone have a page with them and can you report whether or not this system is worth it? I have an 11-piece funk band that plays covers and originals.
Any other site recommendations? We're on a tight budget...actually no budget really 
You can actually visit event planning websites like eventful.com and search for music venues. You then can contact them directly about doing a show, joining an existing show (i.e. open mic), or even contact the promoter directly.
I find that sites like gigmasters.com haven't worked very well for me. Passive, database driven sites are bogus. Typically, people don't hire strangers when hiring musicians or bands, and the definitely don't seem to seek out strangers online to hire. That's my experience, anyway.
