I was on a cruise ship off the west coast of Mexico recently
the Carnival Pride. The piano lounge musician was a neat guy and told me about a website where ship musicians keep in touch with each other and share info. I can’t remember the name though, I think it had the name pirate or bucaneer in it. Does anyone know of this?

sounds like a good site. If you find out what it is, let us know.

I know of two Facebook groups:

Dark Showband Musicians
Cruise Ship Musicians

Neither group is particularly active, though. Those Facebook groups always seem to be kind of useless.

…could it be, they’re too busy working on the ship??? And ship internet, at $.08 cents a minute (when you buy the $30 package (non-refundable, of course)) is not exactly “robust” in price and signal/bandwidth??

…that was a really long way to make a joke…my bad…

Try http://www.crewbar.net (the Crew Bar), as well as crewparty.com (currently being updated). There is also a quaint little forum over at Cruise Message Boards-http://www.cruisemates.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=36 (not very active though). Not sure why there aren’t more active and large forums for cruise ship musicians…
