In my experience, you have to be on the ship to perform unless there is a medical or family emergency, however, an old bandmaster of mine once told me that on ships, where there is a will there is a way, so it would certainly be worth asking about, especially if you are in an ensemble that could possibly continue to perform on the ship without a violin. |

I’ve heard the same thing klemmaniac has. I’m a little less optimistic. That would be a hard sell for you to get off for a few days. You might be better off trying to book a contract through an agent until October, or whenever the interview is. Tell them that you are available immediately until that time and see if they have anything. Sometimes they do. |
