Do you have a base hourly rate that you use for most things? Or do you charge different rates for different gigs?

Cover Gigs:
In town: $25/hr. If I can't make $100 or more for a 4 hour gig in town, I'd just as soon stay home with my wife
Out of town or private party: $50/hr. that the gig will last, driving time and gas eat into this, but I rarely take a gig more than an hour away anymore
Original Music Gigs or Backing up a Friend: Free to whatever they can offer
Rates depend on area. If you go good place then rates should be higher.

It all depends on how much money the client has but I charge minimum £50 for a residency if it's not too hard for me to get to. Most of my gigs are better paid than that and I don't have an hourly rate..
