Many records, I believe, worked a clause into contracts that covers &quot;future formats.&quot; You might have a better argument if you point out that they were never granted rights to sell your songs as singles. In other words, your songs should be listed as &quot;Album Only&quot; on iTunes.

A label that released 3 of our songs in the 1990&#039;s on CD compilations I have just found is selling those compilations on itunes without our permission. we signed no digital rights contract with them (as they didn&#039;t exist then), and the songs belong to us not them copyright wise.
